How foldier sPress really works (part1)

With our newest update, foldier has vastly improved its search capabilities. The new foldier's search engine takes your keywords for your sPression and searches title, keywords, and dives into the text of every article to find matching keywords, foldier search is even capable of finding matching metadata like image EXIF properties. I know "whoa" or "like whoa," whichever you prefer.
Search in foldier plays a center role in most activities performed by the aggregation system. We are going to discuss here three major points:
  • Searching when Creating a new sPression
  • Searching when Collected Media
  • Searching for new Media Sources
Because this may take a little longer than usual we will split this in three posts.
Let's see as a start how search works when you create a new sPression.

Searching when Creating a new sPression

1 - Within the sPress wizard you type few keywords to capture - in broad strokes - the essence of what your sPression will be about.
Preferably to start, you use only a few keywords (2 or 3 max), and use the quotes (") to search for terms like "San Francisco". This allows foldier to understand you are looking for the full term San Francisco rather than two keywords "San" and "Francisco".

Example: "San Francisco" politics "Gavin Newsom"

2 - foldier will search its internal database as well as the Internet for Media Sources matching your keywords. The search is based on other user selections/actions and results from major Internet search engine like Google Blog search.

Is up to you here to select the most appropriate media sources to start the sPression.
Your choice is important for you and for the global Media Source engine that will use your choices to change the ranking of the selected sources with respect of your keywords.
In other words the chosen sources may gain relevance for other users searching with similar keywords.
In part 2 we will dive in how the foldier search engine helps while working on specific articles matching your sPression topics and how to improve its performance in selecting content.
